Located in San Donnino, just outside Florence, this project transforms a former industrial site once occupied by a trash incinerator--a symbol of long-term environmental impact and recent demolition--into a regenerative food hub rooted in the area's agricultural and wetland history. Organized around a central hub with several interconnected secondary hubs, the project supports regenerative farming and community life through shared resources including a community center, food hall, community kitchen, agricultural education spaces, greenhouses, and gardens.
At its core, this project proposed the deconstruction of the incinerator as a catalyst for undoing harm to the site and surrounding neighborhoods by regenerating natural conditions and creating place for adjacent communities, while acknowledging the inherent irony that permanent damage to land and the built environment can never be fully undone.
