Throughout the course of this quarter, was tasked with several small scale projects, emulating the real world project process, from creating clients to designing a community. Inspired by the love for this community and its rich history of music, the arts, and agricultural significance, focused on creating a community for creatives and farmers alike. This project, located on the site of the weekly downtown farmer’s market, started with the design of a home made to house a creative family of four, while accounting for the strong sun and high heat during Bakersfield summers. From there, a master plan arose from the creation of a community with direct ties to its art form--whether that be almond farming or the producing of music. Paying homage to a hometown and the Bakersfield Sound, this project creates a unique fusion between Bakersfield’s most prominent art forms--farming & music--within the heart of downtown.
